Hey There Supyanhussin,
This question may be a little off-topic, English and German both belong to the Germanic branch of the Indo-European language family. Unlike French, Italian, Spanish, Romanian and Portuguese, German has had limited Latin influence, Germany never having been conquered by the Romans. German has a far more Angles and Saxon influence. However, there are a few identical words in German and English, which are derived from Latin and are still used to this day.
Activo / Aktiv / Active – Directum / Direkt / Direct
Great Job!
Hey Supyanhussin,
On a similar note,, French is one of the Romance languages and is therefore, Latin based. However, there are many English words which have a French origin. These are the residue from the time of the Norman invasion in 1066. Prior to that, the main influence had been from the Anglo Saxons and this is why many English words are very similar to German.
